Dabba Gosht

11:07 PM | Publish by Nish's

I love Dabba Gosht. You will hardly find someone who would not like it. Making dabba is not that simple. The mutton pieces need to be soft so that they melt in the mouth.  If you’ve tasted it you know it’s unmatched, unparalleled, unique, inimitable – the ultimate amongst mutton dishes in Indian Cuisine. It’s a rare, exquisite, delicious, succulent, melt-in-the-mouth boneless mutton delicacy dish and only very few select eateries feature it on their menu.
Ingredients
½ Kg Meat (Boneless)
3 Green Chilies
1 Tsp Jeera
2 Tsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
1 Onion ( Finely Chopped)
1 Capsicum (Cut into Thin Strips)
1 Tbsp Coriander Leaves (Chopped)
3 Tbsp Ghee
2 Tbsp Tomato Ketchup
1 Tbsp Chili Sauce
4 Eggs (3-Raw and 1-Hard Boiled)
2 Tomatoes (Sliced)
100 Gms Macaroni (Boiled)
For the Sauce
2 Tbsp Corn-Flour
1 Tbsp Butter
½Cup Milk

Method

  1. Boil the mutton till tender with ginger-garlic and very little water.  Drain and keep 1cup of the mutton soup aside.
  2. Heat butter in a pan. Add the corn flour in it and fry make sure not to burn it. Add the jeera, and pour milk slowly making sure not to make lumps.
  3. Add capsicum and mix.
  4. Add the 1cup mutton soup and stir continuously until thick gravy is formed.
  5. Add the sauces, salt and pepper and the coriander leaves.
  6. Add the macaroni and meat and mix.
  7. Pour a little ghee in a deep jelly mould.
  8. Place cellophane paper over it.
  9. Pour little ghee on the cellophane paper and put the white sauce mutton over it.
  10. Sprinkle hard boiled eggs over it and make a layer of tomatoes on top.
  11. Beat the eggs in a bowl and add salt. In a kadhai, heat about 2 tsp ghee to boiling point. Pour half the amount of beaten egg over the white sauce mutton and pour half the boiling ghee on the egg. Pour the remaining beaten egg over the boiling ghee and finally pour the remaining ghee.
  12. Heat the oven on 180° and bake it for about 15-20mins.
  13. Enjoy it with chapatti, parathas or just plain would also be great.

Note: You can also using cellophane paper and use a greased deep baking bowl instead.
Hint: You can also put corn, French beans, peas etc of your choice in your dabba gosht.
