Shrek Birthday Party Theme

10:17 PM | Publish by Nish's

Shrek is one of the favourite characters of young kids. He is huge, tall and big and as we all know all the kids love to be big. Shrek theme is wonderful and will be delight for everyone.
Ideas for making the card

You can take cream coloured construction paper and cut it into a square/rectangle cut the borders randomly in a zig-zag manner, as we all know that ogers are messy so let the card look a bit messy. You can burn the corners slightly to give it an old look with old English writings in dark green or brown colour. Place it in a brown envelope.

Poems for the birthday card
  1. In a land far far away, Little X is celebrating his/her birthday on (date) at (venue) between (time). Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Dragon will be there, hope to see you too!!!
  2. Come to the land of Far, Far Away with Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, Puss-n-Boots and Dragon, for a fun-filled Shrek Birthday Party!!!
    On(date) At(venue) From(time).
Gifting Ideas.
  1. Fill purple gift bags with a green glow in the dark necklace, Shrek bouncing ball, Shrek stickers, bracelets, belts etc inflatable sword toy...a special way to say "thanks for coming to my party!
  2. Prepare cellophane bags for partygoers to take their creations home in. Goody bags filled with icky gummy insects, swamp critters and brown craft clay will be a swamp treasure to remember.
Decoration
  1. Use colours like purple, green, brown, yellow for decoration. Blow up balloons of these colours and hang them on the walls and ceiling.
  2. Cut brown colour paper or paint white construction paper  brown and make 4 rectangles. Write “Welcome” on one paper, “For” on the 2nd paper, “Child’s Name” on the 3rd paper and “Birthday” on the 4th paper. Stick these 4 rectangles on a thick wooden stick in a zig-zag manner and place it at the entrance.
  3. Hang green streamers all over the place, on the walls and ceiling.
  4. Get a shrek dress on rent and make one adult wear it and entertain the kids.
  5. Use a bright yellow colour table cloth and run green streamers down it.
  6. You can call the local appliance store to request an empty refrigerator box to make a Shrek house or outhouse for the children to play in at the party. Coat the exterior with spray paint at least a week before the party and decorate it with features from the building in the movies. The dragon's castle where Fiona was held captive is an alternative for a girl's party. String up brown paper streamers adorned with 'swap moss' using yarn, dried peat moss, balloons or paper leaves. (You can also use empty big cardboard boxes to make the house).

Welcome Note
You can welcome each guest by giving them this shrek head-band.

You'll Need:
Large sheets of light and dark green Craft Foam
or construction paper.
Craft glue or a hot glue gun.
Glitter glue or a glitter pen
Stapler
How to Make:

  1. Cut two ears, two small triangles for the inside of the ears and a long strip for the head band.
  2. Attach the small triangles to the ears with a glue gun
  3. Then attach the ears to the head band with the glue gun.
  4. With the glitter pen, write the guests name on the front.
  5. Staple the ends of the head band together when the children arrive or cut slits like in the picture.
Fun Games
  1. Pin the Wings on the Dronkey: Just like Pin the Tail on the Donkey you can now play pin the wings on the donkey, but you'll need to make wings with construction paper or craft foam sheets.
  2. Charades: Use pictures of Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, Pinocchio, Three Blind Mice, Puss in Boots, Dragon, Gingerbread Man, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Mirror, mirror, Lord Farquaad, Peter Pan, Big Bad Wolf, etc.
  3. Quite Corner: Shrek loves quite places so have a quite corner for the kids where they can sit and read books, do puzzles, etc…
  4. Balloon Balance: Make pairs of 2 and ask the children to dance on shrek music by balancing a balloon inbetween their tummy. If the ballon falls the couple is out. The last couple with the balloon on their tummy wins.
  5. Froggy Eyes: Use marbles as froggy eyes and hide them around the place before the party begins. Now ask the kids to hunt down as many froggy eyes for shrek’s dinner as they can. The one who finds maximum number of froggy eyes wins.
  6. Musical Chairs: Stick Pictures of Shrek characters on paper plates and place them on the floor. Play musical chairs by making the kids stand on these paper plates on shrek’s music.  The last child that remains wins.
  7. Shrek Movie: Kids love the shrek movie. Play shrek movie at the end of the party, it shall be a real treat for the kids.
  8. Blind Mice Memory Game: Arrange for things from the kitchen like plates, spoons, forks, bowls, jars, etc along with plastic food items like eggs, tomatoes, spring onions, ladies finger, chicken, cucumber, bread etc and earings, rings, necklaces, hair-bands, clips, purses, etc. prior to the party. During the party, place all these in one corner and tie black bands around the children eyes. Ask the kids to touch and feel all the stuff. Put the stuff away. Unblind them and ask them to write at least 7 things of each like utensils, food items and jewelry that they touched. Give every child a treat like a cup-cake after the game.
Food Ideas for the Shrek Theme
  1. Shrek Cake: Bake a Green Colour cake or buy a shrek cake from a near-by bakery.
  2. Happily Ever After Potion: Make a punch with orange juice, and ginger ale
  3. Bug Juice: Any type of juice with ice cubes and frozen jelly worms, etc inside
  4. Bucket of chicken: This would look great in a wooden planter bucket (line with plastic wrap or something so the chicken is not touching the wood). Either make the chicken or purchase at a local grocery store or chicken food chain.
  5. Coriander Chicken/Mutton: http://bohra-gourmet.blogspot.com/2011/01/coriander-chickenmutton.html

It’s healthy and goes perfectly well with the shrek theme.
